AKT II becomes Tyréns AKT.

A new name. A new chapter. Same curiosity.

AKT II has changed its name to Tyréns AKT to reflect our place within the international Tyréns Group.
The name change took effect from 1 September 2026.

As we celebrate our 30-year anniversary and move into our new award-winning Headquarters at Norton Folgate in London, the transition from AKT II to Tyréns AKT recognises our longstanding relationship and shared ambition with the Group.
Our launch film brings together people from across the practice to look back on 30 years of AKT, share what makes the practice special and talk about what comes next.

Global opportunities.

Global change demands a more expansive approach to engineering practice. The challenges shaping our cities, infrastructure and environment now need us to go beyond the single dimension of technical excellence – they demand research, innovation and purposeful collaboration. This requires diverse thinkers embracing greater interdisciplinarity and understanding the dynamics shaping future practice. This approach has long been a cornerstone of AKT, authentic by its design and transforming at each stage to respond to changing demands.
AKT has been built on this model for over 30 years. From London, we remain at the vanguard of design-focused engineering internationally, working across disciplines to create thoughtful, sustainable and impactful solutions. As a global city London remains an important centre, yet our horizon recognises that long-term relevance and resilience cannot rely on a single city alone.

The Tyréns AKT advantage.

For the past 15 years, we have quietly worked together as part of the Tyréns Group – a purpose-driven, international consultancy that shares our values and long-term ambitions – and the time has now come to expand our offer.
Tyréns’ foundation ownership and reinvestment model has always and will continue to enable a sustained commitment to research and innovation, prioritising long-term value over short-term gain. Through shared investment in sustainability, digital transformation and innovation programmes, we will continue to accelerate new capabilities while remaining design-focused at its core.
Strengthening the Tyréns name reflects our evolution as part of a broader international network of engineers, designers and specialists. By carefully removing borders between disciplines, we focus on collaboration that delivers clarity, insight and meaningful impact.
Tyréns AKT represents both continuity and clarity: continuity in our culture and design ethos, and clarity in our identity as a values-led, research-driven international practice equipped for the future.
